My Mission

Hey "Blogging World"!

This is a totally new experience for me, but I hope as I create more and more posts this blog will develop into something that is interesting, entertaining, and original. As the title suggests, NapQuest is a blog catering to the interest of college students who enjoy the pleasures and wonders of afternoon napping. I'm a 1st year at the University of Chicago, and as I embark on my four years of undergraduate work here I've decided to write a blog sharing particularly satisfying naps that I experience around campus. Hopefully I'll be able to write about some of my other friends' experiences and have them share good napping hotspots, too!

A little bit of history: The idea for creating NapQuest originated during my trip to Italy in the summer of 2007. I was with my Mom and her now ex-boyfriend Cliff, sisters Meredith and Rebecca (who was then preggers!) and her husband Tardo. On one of our days spent in the southern city of Acciaroli, we decided to take the two and a half hour ferry ride to the island of Capri, just south of Naples.

We explored the island walking up the city streets near the top of the island where apparently there was some kind of gondola ride. After having some really good Margherita pizza, Tardo, Meredith and I decided to hang out in some park while Mom and Rebecca went off to see what was up with the gondola ride. We each found our own wooden bench in the very small public garden-like park. I don't know what it was about the place, the slight breeze, the warm sun finding its way through the fanning leaves of the trees above our benches, or maybe the buzzing of insects along the grass but we all fell soundly asleep in a matter of minutes. When we woke up, we all unanimously agreed that that was the best nap we had ever experienced in our entire lives. Ever. From then on whenever we traveled together to places like Cancun, Kauai, and Colorado we would recognize spots which we thought could be conducive for good napping. We always talked about creating some sort of website called NapQuest where people could discuss their various naps that they have experienced, and finally I've created this blog! I'd like to set a kind of bar for napping, a standard for the afternoon snooze. College kids deserve an equal opportunity to every resource a university offers including its most cozy, clean, and comfortable nooks and crannies.

SO, follow my blog and take a nap!

Peace
